Senior forward Kimberly Bruno (Middletown, NJ/Middletown South) scored two unassisted goals and provided the assist on what proved to be the game-winner by senior midfielder Melissa Pupo (Newton, NJ/Morris Catholic) as Ramapo College defeated Mount Saint Mary College, 3-0, in the second round of the Liberty Cup, hosted by New Jersey City University on Saturday afternoon at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.

Ramapo evens its record at 3-3 on the year while going 2-0 at the 2010 Liberty Cup. Mount Saint Mary falls to 2-3 overall and finished the tournament with a 0-2 mark. Ramapo and Mount Saint Mary will await the outcome of the final game of the tournament—NJCU vs. SUNY Old Westbury—to determine final placing and the announcement of the All-Tournament Team. Ramapo outshot MSMC 27-6 overall and 16-2 in the second half and held a 9-2 margin in corner kicks.

In defeat for MSMC, senior keeper Megan Cotta (Brick, NJ/St. Rose) played brilliantly, stopping 12 shots. Senior defender Jennifer Nolan (Levittown, NY/Holy Trinity) also had a team save, using a header to clear a shot that was heading in.

RCNJ gained a 1-0 lead at 33:18 of the half when Bruno, who held possession near the top of the box, dished the ball straight back to an unmarked Pupo, who one-timed a high blast from 25 yards for her fifth goal of the season. RCNJ led 1-0 at the break.

In the second half, Bruno scored two similar goals—her third and fourth of the season. At 52:08, she gained possession on the left wing and launched a shot over a leaping Cotta into the right side of the target for a 2-0 advantage. Bruno added an insurance goal at 75:43, also uncorking a one-timer from the left wing, over the keeper and into the right portion of the net.

Ramapo junior keeper Alyssa Krall (Toms River, NJ/Toms River East) made four saves to preserve Ramapo's second shutout of the season.

RCNJ is off until Saturday, September 18 when it opens New Jersey Athletic Conference play against #2 ranked The College of New Jersey at 1 p.m. in Mahwah, NJ. Meanwhile, MSMC hosts Western New England College at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15 in Newburgh, NY.
