Box Score GALLOWAY, NJ (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Three days after earning perhaps its most impressive win of the season, the New Jersey City University men's soccer team suffered a serious setback in South Jersey. For the first time on record in school history, NJCU's defense suffered two own goals, and first-place Richard Stockton College  scored five times in the first half en route to a stunning 7-0 rout of the Gothic Knights in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game on October 5 at G. Larry James Stadium.

NJCU (5-5-0, 2-2-0 NJAC) suffered its most lopsided loss since the 2010 season and for the first time this season was outshot by an opponent, 21-10. Stockton (8-2-2, 5-0-0 NJAC) moved five points in front of No. 2 nationally ranked Rutgers-Camden in the NJAC standings. Stockton held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Prior to the loss, NJCU's previous four defeats were all by either one goal or were one-goal games entering the 90th minute.

Stockton was the beneficiary of owns goals in the 15th and 64th minutes, with the hosts earning scores in the 22nd, 24th, 42nd, 45th and 75th minutes.

Four different players scored for Stockton with Brandon Schidner the lone multiple-goal collector as he scored the fifth and seventh goals. Dominic Nocito had three assists, contributing to the final three goals of the first half. Anthony Colofranson, Chris Katona and Clevon McPherson each added single goals while Vinnie Puglia had one assist.

Bob Millar played the first 63:41 in net for the Ospreys, making five saves before Tim Brett did not face a shot on goal in the final 26:19 to complete the shutout.

Junior goalkeeper RUBEN MORALES (Princeton, NJ/Princeton), who posted a shutout against Kean University, 2-0, on October 2, received little help in the loss, allowing all seven goals in 82:01 of action, while setting aside eight shots. Rookie keeper NICK NARDONE (North Arlington, NJ/Queen of Peace) played the final 7:59 without facing a shot on goal.

An own goal at the 14:58 mark of the first half proved to be the only tally Stockton would need. The Ospreys held a 12-5 edge in first half shots with Colofranson scoring his 11th goal of the season at 21:36 off a Puglia pass. Just 1:51 later, Stockton made it 3-0 when Katona tapped in a cross from Nocito.

Two goals in the final four minutes of the half put the game away as McPherson headed in a Nocito corner kick at 41:36 and Schidner scored his first collegiate goal off a free kick feed from Nocito just 33 seconds shy of halftime. Another own goal at 63:41 that deflected in off the defense made it 6-0 before Schidner added his second goal off a giveaway in front at 74:30.

NJCU will seek to right the ship on Tuesday, October 8 at 7:30 p.m. when it faces New York University in non-conference action in Riverdale, NY.
