Bill Feehan (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant Boro) continues to impress with his consistency and for the second time this season, he has been selected as the
New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie Player of the Week. The award is for week six of the 2017 for games played March 20-26.
Feehan, NJCU's No. 2 batter in the lineup, has now won the award in two of the three weeks NJCU (4-5) has seen the field in a weather-abbreviated first month. He previously was NJAC Rookie Player of the Week on March 6 during week three.
Last week,
Feehan, a 5-foot-9, 200-pound left-handed hitter, helped the Gothic Knights go 3-0, winning three road contests in the club's return to the diamond after a 15-day hiatus. The Mathematics major batted .625, going 5-for-8 in the three wins with a .769 on-base percentage and .750 slugging rate. He drove in five runs, scored three times, drew four walks and was hit by a pitch. He also was 1-for-2 in steals.
In NJCU's 10-6 win at Drew on March 23,
Feehan reached base in four of five plate appearances, going 1-for-2 with two walks, a hit by pitch, one steal, an RBI and a run scored.
In a doubleheader road sweep of Penn State Abington on March 25—7-1 and 16-2— Feehan drove in a combined four RBIs, and reached base six times in eight plate appearances, going a combined 4-for-6 with two runs and two walks. In game one, Feehan collected his first collegiate extra-base hit, driving in two runs with a double. In the nightcap, Feehan was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, a run and a walk.
Overall on the season through nine games and nine starts, he is batting .424 with 14 hits in 33 at bats and owns a .537 on-base percentage (seven walks, 1 hit by pitch). He has eight runs and seven RBIs. Defensively, he owns a .933 fielding percentage in 15 chances.
Feehan leads the team in walks, is second in on-base rate and third in average. He has four multiple-hit games thus far.

Joe Coutinho (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) for the team lead in on-base percentage, also ranks behind him for the NJAC lead as the duo rank 1-2 in the conference. Also in the NJAC,
Feehan ranks eighth in batting average.
Feehan currently leads the NJAC by a wide margin in average with two outs (.600) and is tied for the league lead for average against left-handers (.667). He is second overall with average with RBI opportunities (.625) and ranks among the Top 10 in two-out RBIs (5th, 7), average with runners on base (6th, .471) and percentage advancing runners (10, .632).
