A member of the Jersey City State’s first intercollegiate women’s swimming team, under Coach Lillian Pearce, Carolyn started in 19 dual meets during her college career and finished first 17 times in the 50 yard butterfly. The college record holder in that event (31.3 seconds), she placed 15th in the EAIAW Championships and participated in the AIAW National Championships.
In addition, Ms. Buell was also a big contributor in springboard diving and as a member of various relay teams. She had the rare distinction of scoring in every meet she entered and placed first 39 times in six different events.
Following graduation, Carolyn went on to coach swimming at Holy Family Academy in Bayonne.
