Denise O'Connor

Denise distinguished herself in women’s fencing. She was a member of both the 1964 and 1976 United States Olympic Fencing Teams and the 1975 Pan American Team. She won the New Jersey fencing championship 11 times, the first taking place in 1957 when she was a senior at Jersey City State. A member of five World Fencing Championship Teams, Denise was a nationally ranked fencer from 1960 through 1976. For ten years, she served as captain of the Santelli Fencing Team, which won five national championships. Denise has been associated with Brooklyn College as head coach of Women’s Fencing. She was National Intercollegiate “Coach-of-the-Year” in 1975 and 1976.
