A four-year letterman at Jersey City State Teachers College, Harold was recognized as one of the dominant tennis players in North Jersey. He played tennis for the “Profs” from 1935 through 1938, and was captain of the team in his final two seasons. Harold was crowned JCSTC champion four straight years, and amassed a 40-4 intercollegiate record playing first singles. He was instrumental in the team’s rise to the forefront of North Jersey Tennis powers and led the team to an undefeated season in 1937. In addition, he also was a member of the junior varsity basketball team in 1937.
