    Coach, Men's Cross Country/Track & Field

As an undergraduate, Jim was instrumental in the formation of both track and cross country teams at Jersey City State. He was the holder of many of the school’s long distance records and was captain of both squads during his senior year.  Despite a lack of on-campus facilities, the track team prospered during those days and was successful to such a degree that the team competed in the most prestigious track meets and relay carnivals throughout the nation. A 400-yard runner, Jim lost just three races in his three years of competition in college. At one time or another, he held school records in the 600-yard run, long jump, 440-yard relay, mile relay, and sprint medley relay. He later became the first assistant coach in a fledging track program at North Bergen High School, which, overnight, became a dynasty in Hudson County. Jim then moved on to St. Peter’s College where he enjoyed much success as the head men’s cross country coach as he posted a 61- 11 record from 1979 to 1985. He was also instrumental in the development of St. Peter’s women’s cross country program. While coaching the women, his teams recorded a 25 – 23 mark. Jim stepped down from coaching in 1985 but is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Education Department at the school.
