Joe is regarded as the greatest quarterback in Jersey City State football history. In 1972 and 1973 he helped Jack Stephan’s squad to records of 8-1-0 and 9-1-0 including state and eastern rankings (Lambert Poll-4th place). In 1972, Joe was named ECAC Rookie of the Year. He also earned First Team NJSCAC honors in both 1972 and 1973. With Di Vincenzo at quarterback, Jersey City State had the third highest passing offense in 1973 NCAA Division III statistics averaging 208.4 yards per game. Joe still holds thirteen school records including: most touchdown passes in a single season (14); most career touchdown passes (23); most yards passing in a game (389 vs. Montclair State); most yards passing in a season (1,761); most yards passing/career (2816); most pass completions in a game (33 vs Montclair State), most pass completions in a season (128) and most career pass completions (205).
