    Men's Basketball, Coach

Larry is honored for his contributions as varsity basketball coach for nine seasons (1967-1976). A graduate of the University of Maine-Orono where he played his Collegiate basketball, Larry posted a record of 133-90 (.596) career mark to rank as the winningest basketball coach in Gothic history. His teams enjoyed eight winning seasons in nine years. In conference play, he recorded at 54-36 (.600) mark. Perhaps Larry’s greatest achievements came during the 1973 and 1974 seasons when his Gothic teams won New Jersey State College Athletic Conference championships back to back and participated in the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II East Regionals. This marked the first appearance by any Gothic team in N.C.A.A. championship competition. His team also participated in three other post-season tournaments during his tenure. After the 1967-68 season, he was honored by his peers as Coach-of-the-Year in the NJSCAC. Larry produced 19 all-star first team selections (12 All-NJSCAC and seven All-State) including Fred Douglas and Steve Schindler, charter members of the Hall of Fame, as well as tonight’s newly enshrined member John Celentano. Larry also successfully coached the tennis team in 1968 and 1969. At the present time, he serves as the College’s director of athletics.
