Sloan was the NAIA District 31 100 yard dash championship in 1968, 1969, and 1970. He was also the 220 yard dash champion in 1967 and 1968, and won the Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) indoor 60 yard dash in 1967, 1968 and 1969. In the first NJSCAC track and field championship meet in 1970, Sloan won both the 100 and 220 yard dashes. He is the JCSC co-record holder for both the 100 and 200 yard dash. Sloan ran the lead leg on the sprint relay team and, on occasion, he also ran the lead leg on the mile relay team. According to his Coach and Hall of Famer Tom Gerrity “Sloan was one of the finest sprinters in Jersey City State College history.”
