JERSEY CITY, NJ (www.NJCUGothicKnights.com)...With a snow storm forecasted to bury the Mid Atlantic Region this weekend, four New Jersey City University athletic teams scheduled to compete in three different states, have had cancellations and postponements on their weekend schedules. The most notable change is the cancellation of the six-team, 16th annual men's volleyball Gothic Knight Invitational. Women's bowling and men's and women's indoor track and field also have had postponements.
The Gothic Knight Invitational, scheduled for Saturday, February 6, has been cancelled for the first time in its history. There is no rescheduled date. The tournament was to feature teams from four different states: New Jersey (NJCU), Maryland (Stevenson University), Massachusetts (Newbury College and Wentworth Institute of Technology), and New York (SUNY New Paltz and SUNYIT).
The #9 ranked NJCU women's bowling team (46-23 overall), was to participate in the Capital Classic, hosted by Delaware State University in Dover, DE. That event has been postponed until the weekend of February 27-28.
The men's and women's indoor track and field team, fresh off the women's program climbing to #7 in the national rankings, was to compete at the Frank Colden Invitational at Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA. That event has been postponed until February 13, but NJCU will be traveling to New Haven, CT on that date for the 2010 Collegiate Track Conference (CTC) Indoor Championships at Yale University's Coxe Cage.
Currently, the NJCU/Rutgers-Newark women's and men's basketball New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheader will be played, as scheduled, at 6 and 8 p.m., at the Golden Dome in Newark, NJ.
