The GoodWorx Foundation (GWx) MTC/NCAA CHAMPS/Life Skills Program
Program Overview
Background
The GoodWorx Foundation and NJCU have agreed to partner in supporting, and serving, the student-athletes involved in the NCAA CHAMPS Life Skills Program. GWx will support the existing University program by implementing its’ own MTC philosophy centered on developing the unique potential of today’s young people. The GWx programming consists of a blend of mentoring, life coaching, and academic support which is centered on, and around, 10 key seminars****.
Content
The GWx MTC/NJCU/NCAA CHAMPS Life Skills Program will be divided into 3 portions in the order of Life Skills, Academics, and the development of Community Service. During Academics, students will meet within the AFC to concentrate on, and receive help and guidance for, their everyday course work, reports or other classroom assignments. Life skills’ training follows and will be held in AFC as well. During this time, activities and discussions will be focused on one of the ten Seminars which range from Time and Resource Management to Finance and Budgeting****. If a guest speaker is scheduled, it will be held during this time. For the remaining component, Community Service, GWx, NJCU, and the student participants will explore the opportunities for community involvement and focus on the importance of giving back to the community for which we are members. We try to gain students input from the very beginning of our programming, therefore, we will be passing out a handout to the students on the day of Orientation to fill out with their thoughts and ideas about playing a positive role in the community at-large.
Time and Location
To be determined by the Athletic Department and The GoodWorx Foundation staff. The time and specific locations will be based upon, and around, the participant’s schedules.
