VICKI SPRATFORD (Hopelawn, NJ/Woodbridge) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the third time this season and the seventh time in the last two years after posting an eight-game average of 207.38 and leading the #4 ranked Gothic Knights to a 4-1 record at the third North East Women’s Collegiate Bowling Conference event of the season on January 20.
NJCU, ranked No. 4 nationally in Division I, II and III in the latest National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) poll, improved to 38-10 overall this season.
Spratford, a two-time All-American, is now 12-3 this season in the conference as she went 4-1 in head-to-head matches during the five NCAA games. She had an eight-game pinfall of 1659. In the anchor slot for the five NCAA matches, she rolled a 1031 for a 206.2 average.
During the singles tournament that opens the event, she had a 628 series (204-222-202) for a 209.33 average, and three individual points for the team. Overall, she scored seven of NJCU's 48.5 total points.
In the first NCAA match of the day, Spratford tossed a 243 game as NJCU routed Adelphi University (NY) by 234 pins, 1070-836.
In a 900-721 victory over Saint Peter's College, she had a 212. When the Knights scored a 944-912 decision over #8 Sacred Heart, she added a 202.
