The NJCU women’s basketball team is 4-0 to start a season for the first time since 1974-75 season — 46 years ago — and own a 3-0 and 4-0 record in the NJAC for the first time in its history after sweeping Stockton in a two-game series, 70-56 at home on February 12 and on the road in Galloway, N.J., 59-47, on February 13. It was only NJCU’s third season sweep ever against the Ospreys and the first since doing so in consecutive years in 1992-93 and 1993-94. It is the fifth time in two years she has been named NJCU Athlete of the Week.
Dayjah Anderson was a big reason why, leading on both sides of the court, averaging 15.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.0 steals while shooting 44.4 percent from the field (12-27) and 6-of-10 from the line.
Anderson tied for a game high in the first win over Stockton, shooting 7-of-15 with seven boards, three assists and two steals. Her final basket of the game with 1:03 left in the third quarter gave NJCU a 51-35 lead—its largest of the game.
The next day, she poured in 13 more points (5-12 FG), eight rebounds, with three assists, two blocks and two steals. Trailing 39-32 after three quarters, NJCU outscored Stockton in the fourth, 27-8. NJCU scored the first seven points of the quarter to tie it at 39-39—five by Anderson.
