JOSE FULGENCIO (Bronx, NY/San Rafael, Dominican Republic) is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week for the second time this season after he extended his hitting streak to 18 games last week—the second longest streak in program history—in leading the Gothic Knights to a 3-2 week. NJCU posted an 11-5 win over United States Merchant Marine Academy on April 9 before smothering Lehman College 16-0 the next day. NJCU followed with an 11-7 conference victory over Rutgers-Newark on April 13, before dropping a doubleheader to Richard Stockton College, 6-5 and 9-1 on April 14.

Fulgencio, who leads the NJAC in RBIs and doubles and is among the leaders in a number of other areas, batted .571 last week (12-for-21) with 11 RBIs, five runs, and six doubles, swiping two bases. He was 4-for-4 with five RBIs in NJCU’s win over Lehman and 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs against Newark. He had two doubles in both wins.

Fulgencio went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBIs and a double in NJCU’s win over USMMA. In the losses to Stockton, he combined to go 3-for-8 with two RBIs and one double.
