WEEK of: SEPTEMBER 1-2, 2007

Freshman setter ALEX JOHANESEN (Bridgewater, NJ/Bridgewater-Raritan) made a huge impact in her collegiate debut and has been named the first NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week or the 2007-08 athletic year in her week as a college player. She was also named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week.

In three matches and seven games for the Gothic Knights (3-0), she tallied 80 assists and nine aces, while averaging 11.43 assists and 1.29 aces per game. Overall, she contributed to NJCU’s .276 team hitting percentage.

She helped NJCU sweep through the NJAC-Skyline Cross-Over with 3-0 wins over SUNY-Farmingdale (30-17, 30-22, 30-27), St. Joseph’s College (30-22, 30-17, 30-15) and SUNY-Old Westbury (30-7, 30-19, 30-18).

In the sweep of SUNY-Farmingdale, Johanesen delivered 30 assists in two games. She provided 24 assists and three aces in the win over St. Joseph’s College as the Knights hit .321.

In a dominant victory over SUNY-Old Westbury in which the Knights hit .373 overall with 43 kills as a team and landed a combined 17 aces, Johanesen dished 26 assists and planted five aces.
