Sophomore point guard JOSH LOPEZ (Jersey City, NJ/St. Mary’s (Jersey City) is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career and the first time this season after a strong performance in NJCU's only game over the two-week holiday period—a 61-52, come-from-behind win over Lycoming College at home on December 17.

Lopez sparked NJCU off the bench with eight first half points, finishing with 10 points overall in 13 minutes, including 4-of-4 from the line, as NJCU had a 34-8 advantage in bench points. He added two assists.

Trailing 18-8, the three-point shooting of Lopez helped unleash a 15-3 run in the final 5:19 of the period, during which the Knights only committed one turnover. That run extended to 22-3 over two periods. Back-to-back triples by Lopez made it 20-14, and Lopez sank two foul shots to help trim the deficit to just one, 21-20.

Lopez is averaging 6.8 points per game and is shooting .333 from three-point range (10-30).
