Senior striker CHRIS ROSENTHAL (Kearny, NJ/Kearny) has been selected as the NJCU Men's Student-Athlete of the Week for the ninth time in his career and the third time this season after he tallied 11 points in three games, with two goals and seven assists as NJCU (14-4, 4-3 NJAC), ranked 16th in Division III, went 2-1 last week.

On Monday, October 17, when NJCU routed York College (NY), 15-0, while breaking every existing single-game offensive record, including goals (15), assists (18), points (48), and margin of victory, Rosenthal collected eight points with one goal and a single-game school record six assists. The six helpers eclipsed the mark of five by Manny Juste against Lehman College on November 1, 1990, and tie for fifth most assists by one player in a game in Division III history. His eight points tied for second most in a contest in school history; Rosenthal already has a nine-point game to his credit in the 2004 ECAC Tournament.

In NJCU’s 6-1 win over Mount St. Mary’s College on October 19, Rosenthal added an assist for his 33rd point of the season. The assist was the 25th of his career and his 13th of the season, breaking the single-season record for helpers that Adrian Ruiz had just established in 2004 with 12. He passed Ruiz and moved into second place in school history in assists.

In a 2-1 road loss at Richard Stockton College on Sunday, October 23, NJCU struck first, taking a 1-0 lead at 17:07 of the first half as Rosenthal faked out a charging Stockton keeper, and buried his 11th goal and team and conference leading 35th point of the season. It was the 115th point of his three-year career at NJCU. He has 11 goals and 13 assists in 13 games.

Through October 21, Rosenthal leads the New Jersey Athletic Conference in six of a possible nine offensive categories, and ranks among the top three in two other areas. He is the NJAC leader in points, points per game (2.75), assists, assists per game (1.08), shots (54), and shots per game (4.50), while ranking second in goals per game (0.83) and third in goals.
