Another move by NJCU head coach KEVIN EAST paid dividends, and after scoring the go-ahead goal for New Jersey City University in its 3-2 loss at The College of New Jersey in the New Jersey Athletic Conference Semifinals on November 2, junior forward JUAN ZUNIGA (Passaic, NJ/Passaic) has been named the NJCU Men's Student-Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career. He is the sixth different member of the NJCU men's soccer team to receive the award this season.

Not only did Zuniga score the go-ahead goal, he also helped set-up the game-tying tally. Zuniga, who has played only 394 of a possible 1980 minutes this season, entered a match for the 11th time in 22 games this year at 38:34 of the first half, with #16 NJCU trailing #8 TCNJ, 1-0. At 41:04, Zuniga had a 1-on-1 breakaway in the box, which the TCNJ keeper stopped with a terrific leaning save. However, that miss set up the tying goal, as Edison Bilbao scored off the ensuing corner kick at 41:19.

Less than two minutes later, Zuniga gave NJCU a 2-1 cushion heading into the half. After a Chris Rosenthal breakaway on the right wing was saved, Zuniga was there for the goalmouth rebound, and immediately banged in his fifth goal of the season at 43:58. Zuniga left the game afterwards with an injury suffered on the shot, playing only 5:24 overall.

The No. 5 forward on the fifth-highest scoring offense in Division III, Zuniga is averaging 1.00 points and 0.45 goals per game, with five goals, one assist, and 11 points in 11 games this season.
