Junior forward/center TIFFANY BOYD (Jersey City, NJ/Lincoln) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after she nearly averaged a double-double for the week while becoming NJCU’s all-time leading blocked shot leader in the 36-year history of the women's basketball program—as a junior. She averaged 11.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.7 blocks, 2.7 assists, and 2.0 steals per game. She now has 125 career blocks.
In NJCU’s 70-34, 36-point win over Briarcliffe College on November 29, she collected a double-double with team highs of 14 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks. Boyd had entered the game tied for first all-time in blocks (117) with Alexis Nelson (1995-98). She hit 7-of-11 field goals for the 14 points, and had eight of her 14 boards on the offensive glass.
In NJCU’s loss to TCNJ, 57-50 on December 2, she poured in 13 points, with eight rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks. She had seven rebounds, six points, three blocks and two assists in a loss to John Jay College on November 27.
For the season, she leads NJCU in rebounding average (9.4), total rebounds (47), offensive rebounds (19), defensive rebounds (28), assists (16), assists per game (3.2), blocked shots (21), blocks per game (4.2), and field goal percentage (.459, 28-61). Boyd is second in field goals made (28), total points (60), minutes (132), and minutes per game (32.4), and ranks third on the club in scoring (12.0), field goal attempts (61), free throws attempted (11), steals, (11), and steals per game (2.2).
Boyd is the NJAC leader in rebounding average, blocks per game and total blocks. She is tied for second in offensive boards per game (3.80), third in defensive rebounding (5.60), fifth in assists per game and assist to turnover ratio (1.23), sixth in minutes, eighth in scoring, ninth in field goal percentage, and tied for 12th in assists per game.
