DANA JOHN is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week for the third week in a row and sixth time this season, after the sophomore swingman led New Jersey City University to another perfect week, as the Gothic Knights went 3-0 last week, winning all three games in blowout fashion.

John averaged 21.0 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, shooting .750 from the line (15-20), .447 from the field (17-38) and .438 from three-point range (14-32), while breaking NJCU’s single-season record for three-pointers, now with 67. John has now scored 20 or more in eight games this season, including four in a row and NJCU is 9-2 all-time when he scores at least 20.

NJCU extended its streak of consecutive seasons with a .500 or better record to 37—the third longest streak in Division III history.

In NJCU’s 76-58 win over New York City College of Technology on January 29,  John scored 20 points, shooting 7-of-15 overall, including 5-of-11 from three-point range. He added nine rebounds in 31 minutes. In the game, he became the first sophomore in NJCU history and the sixth men’s player overall, to reach the 100-career three-pointers mark.

In NJCU’s crucial 77-56 New Jersey Athletic Conference win over Rutgers-Newark on January 31, John again had 20 points, connecting for three three-pointers, and added eight rebounds. He shot 11-of-15 from the line, converting as many free throws by himself as the entire Newark team (11-18).

On February 3, NJCU routed Rutgers-Camden 69-46 to extend its home court winning streak to 10 games. NJCU has won eight games in a row and eight consecutive NJAC games since an 0-2 start. John notched a game-high 23 points in just 28 minutes, shooting 7-of-13 from the field and 6-of-12 from three-point range. He added six rebounds and two steals.

Overall this season, John is averaging 18.2 points (364), 5.6 rebounds (112), 1.65 steals (33), 1.3 assists (25) and 0.6 blocks (12) per game. He is shooting .449 from the field (119-275), .416 from three-point territory (67-161) and .776 from the line (59-76).

Among the NJAC leaders through February 4, John is the current conference leader in three-pointers made (3.35) and three-point percentage. Additionally, he ranks second in scoring, sixth in free-throw percentage, 10th in minutes played, 31.25; 625), 11th in defensive rebounding (4.10/game), 12th in blocks, 14th in steals, and 16th in rebounding.
