WEEK of: NOVEMBER 5-11, 2007
For the third time this season and the second week in a row, junior center midfielder JONATHAN BILBAO (Carteret, NJ/St. Benedict’s Prep) is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week after he unleashed a remarkable two-game outburst in the NCAA Tournament first and second round.

Bilbao played a role in four of NJCU’s six goals, scoring twice himself, while guiding New Jersey City University to a single-season record 18th win and it second appearance in the NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 in three years.

In a 2-0 win over Castleton State College (VT) in the NCAA First Round on November 10, he scored both of NJCU’s goals—one in each half—and broke the all-time career record with his 10th game-winner.

Bilbao’s fifth game-winner of the season happened in the first half, as he made a spin move to elude a defender and pinpointed a beautiful header off a cross inside the left post at 29:59. His 10th career game-winner broke a tie for the all-time lead with former standout Marc Palumbo (1999-02).

In the second half, Bilbao collected a rebound off another attempt from 10 yards out on the right side and uncorked a shot into the left side of the net at 59:59 for his 12th goal of the year and 60th career point, now seventh in school history.

In NJCU’s 4-1 victory over Hamilton College in the NCAA Second Round on November 11, Bilbao contributed two assists to take over the team lead with 35 points.

Bilbao helped make it 3-0 at 30:44 of the first half when he placed a 20-yard serve into the goalmouth that simply had to be tapped in. He extended the lead to 4-0 at 81:18 of the second half when he lofted a cross from the right wing onto the left post for another point-blank goal. The assist for Bilbao was his 11th of the year.
