WEEK of: MARCH 17-23, 2008

For the first time in her career, senior shortstop and two-year captain SUSIE MATSUTANI (Gallup, NM/Gallup) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week. In a 1-1 week for NJCU in which the Knights defeated John Jay, 8-2, following a 6-5 loss, she was a combined 3-for-7 with four runs and a triple to break the all-time program record with 10. She remained errorless on the season through 10 games at shortstop.

Matsutani now has 10 career triples, breaking the mark of nine achieved by two players, including Toni Salvatore (1990-93). She also moved into fifth place in school history with 113 hits and ninth in runs (75).

In game two against the Bloodhounds, Matsutani led NJCU with a 2-for-3 performance, scoring twice with one RBI. She was 1-for-4 with two runs in the opening game.
