For the second consecutive week and the seventh time in his career, senior forward CRISTHIAN ACUNA, the 2007 New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year, is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week.

Acuna had a historic week for NJCU in which he became the program’s all-time leader in assists with 32 and moved into second place in the 50-year history of the program with currently 90 points. In two wins during which NJCU outscored the opposition 16-1, he scored twice with one assist for five points in only 61 minutes of action. He had four shots—three on goal—with one game-winning goal.

In NJCU’s 7-1 win over Medgar Evers College on September 3, Acuna scored twice to move into second place in program history with then 89 points. Acuna, who now has four goals this year, scored the second and third goals of the game, giving him 29 career goals and with 89 points, passing Adrian Ruiz (2001-04, 86 points) for second place in scoring in school history.

His first goal of the game proved to be his eighth career game-winner, becoming one of just five players in program history with at least that many. His first goal came at 6:46 when he beat a defender on the left wing and slammed home a shot, moving past Ruiz in the record books in the process. At 11:29 Acuna chipped a shot from the right wing over the MEC keeper for a 3-0 lead.

In NJCU’s 9-0 win over Mount Saint Vincent, Acuna provided the assist on a give-and-go play inside the box at 22:33 of the first half for a 3-0 lead and in the process became the all-time leader in assists in the 50-year history of NJCU soccer. His 32nd career assist and 90th overall point—his first assist this year—moved him out of a tie he had held with former teammate Johan Gonzalez, who had 31 assists between 2002-05.
