WEEK of: OCTOBER 6-12, 2008
For the first time in his Gothic Knight career, sophomore forward TRAVIS MCKOY (Maplewood, NJ/Columbia), a transfer to the men's soccer program this season, is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week.

In NJCU’s only game of the week, an 8-0 win against City College of New York on October 11, Mckoy set a New Jersey Athletic Conference and New Jersey City University record by scoring a pair of lightning-quick first half goals as NJCU remained unbeaten in 10 consecutive games. McKoy finished with two goals on eight shots in just 23 minutes of action.

Mckoy’s two goals, at 39:51 and 40:16, came in a span of just 25 seconds, setting an NJAC and school record for consecutive goals by the same player. They were the fifth fastest consecutive goals on record in NCAA history. The previous NJCU record was 52 seconds by Marcelo Carpio on October 16, 2005.

The two goals were also one second shy of the fastest back-to-back tallies as a team in program history. In NJCU’s 4-1 win over Hamilton in the second round of the 2007 NCAA Tournament, the club saw two balls find the net in 00:24.

Mckoy made it 4-0 at halftime when he scored his two record-setting goals in a span of 25 seconds—his fifth and sixth tallies of the year, both off crosses into the box.

NJCU (8-2-2), ranked third in the NCAA Division III Metro Region and 24th nationally by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, has not lost in six weeks, dating back to August 30. NJCU has outscored its opponents this season, 45-12 and improved to 51-8-1 at home over the last six years with the victory.

For the season, Mckoy is second on NJCU in goals with six in only eight games (seven starts) and is tied for second with 12 points. He is also second with 29 shots (13 on goal).

Among the NJAC leaders, Mckoy is second in shots per game (3.62), tied for fifth in goals per game (0.75), tied for seventh in goals, and seventh in points per game (1.50).
