WEEK of: OCTOBER 13-19, 2008

Senior outside hitter JACQUELINE LeBLANC (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career and the second time this season after she averaged 3.61 points, 3.05 kills, 2.79 digs, 0.42 aces and 0.21 blocks per set in a 2-3 week for the Gothic Knights. LeBlanc became the third player in NJCU history to eclipse 1,500 career points. She also posted 10 or more kills in four matches, two double-doubles, and was named to the All-Tournament Team as NJCU was the runner-up at the Gothic Knight Invitational.

In a 3-2 (19-25, 19-25, 28-26, 25-19, 15-11) loss to Ramapo College on October 14, LeBlanc pounded out a match and career-high 24 kills and 17 digs while hitting .435 (24-4-46) and registered her 31st career double-double and fifth of the season. She reached 20 kills in a match for the fifth time, while eclipsing her previous career best of 22 kills achieved twice in back-to-back matches in November 2006.

In a 3-1 (25-23, 25-18, 21-25, 27-29) loss to Rowan University on October 16, she recorded her 32nd career double-double with 22 digs and 10 kills. It was her fifth career 20-dig match and three shy of her personal high.

LeBlanc
was named to the All-Tournament Team at the Gothic Knight Invitational on October 18 for the second time in her career (2005), as she became the third player in school history to record 1,500 career points. She now has 1,525.0 points, highlighted by 1,323 kills. In three matches during the tournament, she had 24 kills, 14 digs and seven aces.

In a sweep of Medgar Evers College in the tournament (25-1, 25-4, 25-8), she only had seven attack attempts, but made her mark as she served four of NJCU’s 21 aces and landed three kills.

In a 3-0 win over Rutgers-Newark (25-9, 25-5, 25-13) in the second match of pool play, LeBlanc exceeded 1,500 career points, as she tallied more kills by herself than the entire Scarlet Raider squad (nine). LeBlanc, who pounded back-to-back kills to make it 15-5 in the opening set to reach the milestone, finished with 10 kills (10-2-20) while hitting .400. She added eight digs, two aces and two blocks.

In the championship match against CCNY, the Knights fell in five sets (16-25, 27-25, 14-25, 25-23, 8-15), despite 11 kills and five digs from LeBlanc.

In the NJAC statistical leaders, she is third in kills per set (3.31), fifth in points (3.78), 16th in hitting percentage (.206) 19th in digs (2.57), and 26th in service aces (0.38).
