LACEY SKOWRONSKI (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) is the NJCU Women’s Athlete of the Week for the third time in her career. In a 3-0 week for NJCU,
Skowronski was as close to perfect on the field as one player could be. She hit .750, going 6-for-8 with seven runs, six RBIs, two homeruns, two doubles, two walks and a steal. On the mound, she was 1-0 with a two-hit shutout.
In an 18-1 rout of Mount Saint Vincent on March 19, Skowronski was 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBIs and a double.
In a doubleheader sweep of Brooklyn College on March 20, winning 12-0 and 17-0, Skowronski had homers in each game. In game one, she went 1-for-3 with two runs and her first homerun of the season—a solo shot to left in the third inning, which was her seventh career homer.
In game two, Skowronski starred on the mound and at the plate. She was 2-for-2 with three RBIs and three runs scored, notching a two-run homer to cap the 10-run third inning, while adding a double. Her second homerun of the day gives her eight for her career, which is second in school history.
On the mound she was in total control. Skowronski threw just 65 pitches, allowing just two singles for a two-hit shutout, with four strikeouts and two walks.
