Sophomore third baseman MICHAEL FIORENTINO (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ/Point Pleasant Beach) is the NJCU Men’s Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after he played an instrumental role in NJCU’s 2-1 week of NJAC results. Fiorentino had a two-run go-ahead single in the seventh inning of game one of a doubleheader with Richard Stockton College on March 28 and had a crucial two-run double in NJCU’s six-run fourth inning as the Knights rallied from six runs behind to defeat the Ospreys, 12-9.
 
For the week, he hit .417 (5-12) with five RBIs and a run scored and had a hit in every game.
 
Fiorentino was a combined 4-for-7 with five RBIs in the doubleheader with Stockton.
 
In game one, Fiorentino was 2-for-3 with the two RBIs. He drove a 3-1 pitch up the middle in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 5-3 advantage, which the Gothic Knight bullpen held.
 
In game two, Fiorentino was 2-for-4 with three RBIs. His two-run double cut what was a 6-0 deficit to two runs, 7-5. He also had an RBI on a sacrifice in the fifth inning, to give NJCU its 10th run and the eventual winning margin.
 
He also was 1-for-5 in a loss to William Paterson University on March 27.
