Freshman JENNIFER DAUNNO (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the third time this year after an outstanding performance at the 2009 NCAA National Collegiate Women's Bowling Championship on April 9-10.

In the traditional team-game portion of the NCAA qualifying round on April 9, Daunno had a four-game pinfall of 858 for a 214.50 average, rolling games of 202-155-222-279 and finished fifth overall in the individual standings among 52 bowlers who competed in the NCAA Championship. 

In the fourth game, Daunno opened with seven consecutive strikes before leaving one pin standing in the eighth frame. She followed with a spare and four more strikes for the 279—narrowly missing a 300 game.

Daunno’s 279 score was the highest individual game among the 160 total individual games in the NCAA Tournament.

During the Baker portion of the tournament, Daunno bowled in the #2 position the entire tournament. She helped NJCU clinch a school-record #2 overall seed in the double elimination bracket on April 9. 

On April 10, she was in the #2 position yet again as NJCU went 1-2 overall with 4-3 losses to #7-seeded Delaware State University and eventual national champion and #1 seeded University of Nebraska on April 10, sandwiched around a 4-1-1 victory over defending national champion University of Maryland Eastern Shore, which eliminated the Hawks. Daunno and the Gothic Knights placed fifth in the nation, marking the fifth time in six years NJCU has been among the top five teams in the NCAA Championship.
