Sophomore second baseman Danielle Delfino (Jersey City, NJ/County Prep) is the NJCU Women’s Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career after she led NJCU with a .526 batting average and .571 on-base percentage in a 3-3 week for the Gothic Knights. Delfino batted 10-for-19 with two runs, and one RBI as NJCU’s leadoff hitter and had multiple hits in four consecutive games.

 

Delfino was a combined 5-for-7 in two games on April 13 as NJCU swept a road NJAC doubleheader from Rutgers-Newark, 12-3 in five innings and 5-4. In game one, Delfino led NJCU’s 10-hit attack by going 3-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, with a walk. Delfino was 2-for-4 in game two.

 

In NJCU’s first win in Union since March 27, 2000, which snapped Kean’s 14-game winning streak in the series, Delfino was 2-for-4 with a double as NJCU defeated the Cougars, 2-1 on April 14. In the second game against Kean on April 16, Delfino was 2-for-2. She also added a hit in a loss at Richard Stockton College on April 18.
