Sophomore forward ALEX CERON (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) is the NJCU Men's Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career after scored twice on the week for four points as NJCU opened the 2009 soccer season with a 1-1-1 record.

 

In a 7-0 rout at the City College of New York on September 2, Ceron scored the eventual game-winner at 12:18 of the first half when his free kick from 22 yards out following a foul was ripped into the top right corner.

 

Ceron scored what was at the time a go-ahead goal for NJCU before it tied Greensboro College, 3-3 in double overtime at the North Carolina Wesleyan College Roger Taylor Fall Classic in Rocky Mount, NC on September 5. At 19:22 of the first half, Ceron took a deep pass and beat the opposing keeper in a 1-on-1.
