WEEK of: SEPTEMBER 13-19, 2010
Junior forward JENNIFER ALBUJA (Union City, NJ/Hoboken) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time this season and the eighth time in her career after she netted the eventual game-winning goal for the Gothic Knight women's soccer team in a 2-1 win over St. Joseph’s College (LI) on September 15. It was the first-ever win against the Golden Eagles in eight all-time meetings in what was the first game against the Patchogue, Long Island, New York-based school since 2005.

For the week, Albuja compiled eight shots, including four on goal. In a 3-0 loss at William Paterson University on September 18, she had two shots, and both on net.

In the win over the Eagles, Albuja had six shots in the game (two on goal), and twice had a chance to put NJCU ahead in the first half. She ripped two shots off the crossbar at 20:54 and 22:02. After teammate Julia Caseres made it 1-0 on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute, Albuja added to the lead with a decisive goal.

After receiving a throw-in from the left sideline, she settled the ball on the left side of the box, split two defenders, and unleashed a shot into the left of the net from 10 yards out for her sixth goal of the season.

The goal at 56:33 was the 62nd of her career and 133rd career point, as Albuja moved into a tie for seventh place in NJAC history in career points.

Through games of September 19, Albuja is tied for the NJAC lead in game-winning goals (2) with four other players, including Caseres. Also among the NJAC leaders, Albuja, the 2008 NCAA Division III national scoring champion who returned to the pitch this season after missing the 2009 campaign, is also tied for third in points (13) and goals (6), ranks fourth in goals per game (0.86),
fifth in points per game (1.86),shots (26) and shots per game (3.71), and is tied for 24th in assists (1).
