Junior outside hitter TABITHA JORDAN (West New York, NJ/Memorial) is the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the second time in her career after she averaged 5.11 points, 3.89 kills, 3.00 digs and 1.22 aces per set in a 2-1 week of action for the Gothic Knights. Jordan posted a .126 hitting percentage in nine sets, compiling 46.0 points, 35 kills, 27 digs and 11 service aces.

In a 3-0 win at John Jay College on September 24 (25-16, 25-17, 28-26), Jordan recorded her 13th career double-double with a match-best 17 kills, 12 digs and six aces. Jordan nearly had as many kills individually as the entire John Jay team (20) and recorded 17 of NJCU’s 31 winners. She hit .072 (17-12-69).

In the 17th consecutive win over John Jay, NJCU never trailed in the opening set as Jordan landed four of her aces in the game. Leading 13-10, the Knights uncorked seven consecutive points behind Jordan’s serving and opened a 21-11 lead. In the second set Jordan collected six kills; John Jay only seven. In the final set, NJCU led 27-26 after rallying several times and Jordan’s kill claimed the match.

In a 3-0 sweep of the College of Staten Island (25-10, 25-7, 25-10) on September 22, Jordan also nearly had as many kills individually (nine) as the Dolphins had as a team (10). Jordan hit .318 with nine winners (9-2-22), six digs and five service aces.

On September 21 in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-16) loss to NJAC rival Ramapo College, Jordan nearly registered a double-double. She finished with nine kills (9-5-36, .111) and nine digs. No other NJCU player had more than five winners.

For the season in 35 sets, she leads NJCU in points per set (4.24) and kills per set (3.49). She has averaged 2.97 digs and 0.74 service aces for the Knights, now 5-6 overall, and has a .143 hitting percentage (122-63-414). She has totaled 148.5 points, 122 kills, 104 digs, 26 service aces, three assists and one block.
Through matches of September 23, Jordan ranks second in the NJAC in kills per set and points per set, eighth in service aces, 15th in digs, and 27th in hitting percentage.
