Junior AMY BREHM (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) had her best career effort during the FDU New Jersey Jamboree and for her performance has been named the NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career.
In a pair of best 4-of-7 Baker series on November 7, she competed in the key leadoff position for NJCU in a 4-1 win against Long Island University and 4-3 loss to #10 Sacred Heart University.
The Knights have never lost to Long Island and improved to 8-0 all-time against the Blackbirds. Brehm sparked the 4-1 series victory by opening four of the five games with a strike. NJCU won the opening game by 28 pins, a 207-179 decision, before uncorking a 244 in the final game and winning by 82 pins.
 
Against Sacred Heart, Brehm  was even better. She opened six of seven games with a strike and at one point tossed seven consecutive strikes during the match.
 
Overall, Brehm opened 10 of the final 12 games of the tournament with a strike, setting the tone for NJCU in the vital leadoff role.
 
On day two of the tournament on November 6, she bowled four of five matches during the traditional team game segment. and was 67th overall in standings determined by total pinfall, with a high game of 203. She averaged 171.50 with 686 total wood (177-160-203-146). In a 196-pin rout of Howard. Brehm posted NJCU’s top score of the 919-723 victory with her 203.
 
On day one of the tournament on November 5, she led off for NJCU as the Knights opened the season winning four of five matches during the quad-Baker format. The Knights ended the day with four wins against #18 Florida A&M University, talented first-year Sam Houston State University, Bethune-Cookman University and Hampton University.
 
For the week, Brehm had 45 strikes in 108 attempts for a .412 percentage and 38 spares in 54 tries (.704), for a .781 filled frames average. She also converted two splits. In Baker action, she set down 1,333 pins.
