WEEK of: NOVEMBER 8-14, 2010

Senior NICOLE DREJERWSKI (Levittown, PA/Conwell-Egan Catholic) has been named the NJCU Women’s Athlete of the Week for the fourth time in her career after the reigning NCAA Division III National Player of the Year posted a 211.56 average and nine-game pinfall of 1904 and placed fourth overall among 73 bowlers, as the NJCU women’s bowling team went 7-2 overall at the first Northeast Conference (NEC) event of the 2010-11 season. The seven wins included an upset victory over nationally No. 1 ranked Fairleigh Dickinson University as NJCU claimed a share of first place in the NEC.

On day one of the event in Reading, Pa., Drejerwski, a First-Team All-NEC selection last year, sparked NJCU out of the anchor position with a 194.40 average and 972 total pinfall in five games, with a 227 high. She had a five-game set of 188-158-197-202-227.

In the first-ever meeting between NJCU and Monmouth University, Drejerwski added a 197 but the Hawks surprised the Knights with a 47-pin, 971-924 win. She threw a 202 in a 1088-1001 loss against #9 Kutztown University.

In the final match of the first day of the NEC meet, NJCU secured an important win over rival Sacred Heart, the 2010 NEC Tournament champions, 1011-933. The Knights posted a 202.2 per person average and won by 78 pins, led by a 227 from Drejerwski.

As good as Drejerwski was on the first day, she was even better on day two, leading NJCU to four victories as the Knights improved to 19-4 all-time in conference play. She had a masterful day with a 233.00 average in four games and notched three games of 225 or better with a 262 high mark. Her four-game pinfall was 932 with games of 246-191-233-262.

In the first match, NJCU faced St. Francis College (NY), which entered the contest undefeated (5-0) in the league. Drejerwski chalked up a 246 to pace NJCU’s 1066-937 rout as the Knights averaged 213.2 per player in the win.

In a 996-937 win over #13 Adelphi University, NJCU trailed by more than 50 pins late in the match before the Knights began tossing strikes. Drejerwski added a 191 in the win.

In a 77-pin upset of #1 ranked and NEC preseason favorite Fairleigh Dickinson, Drejerwski unleashed a 233 as NJCU handed FDU only its third loss of the season. In the final match of the weekend, a 1092-943, 149-pin rout of Saint Francis University (Pa.)., Drejerwski, competing in her home state, exploded for a 262, tossing six straight strikes to open the contest. It was her highest game since tossing a 277 on February 13, 2010 against Saint Peter’s in NEC action.

In 14 games early this season, Drejerwski has a 201.14 average and total wood of 2816.
