WEEK of: NOVEMBER 15-21, 2010
Junior JENNIFER DAUNNO (Carteret, NJ/Carteret) is the NJCU Women’s Athlete of the Week for the seventh time in her career after being selected to the All-Tournament Team at the Eastern Shore Hawk Classic from November 19-21 in Millsboro, DE. The setup bowler in Baker, she placed fifth out of 129 keglers in traditional pinfall with 1100 total wood and posted a 220.00 average. She had the highest pinfall of any right-hander in the field. Daunno propelled NJCU to a sixth place finish among 20 schools and a 10-3 overall record, that included the nationally No. 8 ranked Gothic Knights extending their winning streak to 14 consecutive matches before suffering its first loss.

Daunno posted four 200 games with a five-game line of 236-210-201-275-178. She rolled a team season-high 275 in a win over #14 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater—four shy of her career best of 279 set on April 9, 2009 in the NCAA Championship.

Daunno had an overall remarkable week, posting a sky-high 20.72 frame average. She tossed 66 strikes in 134 chances (.493) and owned a .867 spare percentage, converting 52-of-60, and collected a filled-frame percentage of .898 (115 of 127). Perhaps most impressive was her split conversion percentage as Daunno notched four spares in eight split opportunities. She set aside 1532 Baker pins and 2632 total pins on the weekend.

On day one of the tournament on November 19, NJCU went 5-0 in quad Baker total pinfall matches, including a win over #5 ranked University of Central Missouri.

On day two of the event on November 20, her 220.0 average vaulted NJCU to a 4-1 record, including an upset of #4 ranked Vanderbilt University, and wins over 11th ranked Valparaiso University and #14 Whitewater. In the opening 968-951 win against Vanderbilt, Daunno’s 236 was the difference, and she collected a 210 in a 969-769 rout of Texas Southern University. In its first-ever win against Valpo in four meetings, Daunno finished with a 201 as NJCU knocked off the Crusaders, 983-946.

In NJCU’s 1023-970 triumph against UWW that extended the NJCU winning streak to 14, the story was Daunno and her 275. She opened with five consecutive strikes before an eight count and spare in the sixth frame. She followed with five strikes on the back frames before a seven count on the 10th frame fill ball.

On the final day of the tournament, Daunno helped NJCU knock off #1 ranked and defending NCAA national championship Fairleigh Dickinson University for the second time in eight days. NJCU won the best-of-seven series, 4-1. In game one when NJCU claimed a 10-pin, 185-175 decision, Daunno struck in the fourth frame and repeated the feat in the ninth for the win and helped NJCU win game two, 225-222. After losing game three, Daunno struck in the ninth frame as the Knights won 190-186 for a 3-1 lead against its North Jersey archrival. In game five, she struck in the fourth and ninth frames before NJCU doubled in the 10th and prevailed, 229-213.

Also on November 21, in a game seven with #10 Sacred Heart University, Daunno struck in the ninth frame to keep NJCU alive before the Knights fell 212-208 and lost 4-games-to-3.
