Brian Ferrante
Ferrante, the only captain in the three-year history of the golf program, shot a school record +7 (78) and helped NJCU crush its previous composite team school record with a 335, as NJCU defeated SUNY Old Westbury, 335-422, in a dual match on October 12 at the Galloping Hill Golf Course.
On a cold, windy, overcast, mid-October day with temperatures in the low 50s and wind chills much lower, Ferrante shot a 40 on the par-37 front nine and a 38 on the back. The +7 is one stroke better than the previous mark of +8 that Ferrante shared with junior Matt Smith (Gibbstown, NJ/Gloucester County Institute of Technology).
Ferrante had shot a +8 79 on September 25, 2011 at the Long Island National Golf Club in Riverhead, NY while Smith matched that mark with a +8 78 on October 1 of this season at the Westover Golf Course in Jeffersonville, Pa.
Ferrante claimed individual medalist honors by a whopping five strokes over the second-place finisher, senior Ryan Bresnahan, who shot a +12 (83).
The 335 team score was 16 strokes better than the previous all-time low of +63 (351) that Ferrante, Haney, freshman Patrick Cardoso (Belleville, NJ/Belleville) and two others shot on September 29, 2012 at the Sycamore Country Club in Ravena, NY.
