Jade Medley
Medley, who also earned the award on October 3, 2011 and October 24, 2011 for her volleyball prowess, had by far the best week of her collegiate basketball career, scoring in double figures in three consecutive games, including a career-high 14 points, after not reaching double digits in her seven previous games this year and in 15 total prior games dating to the 2011-12 campaign.

Medley had not scored at all in her three previous games and entered the week with just 13 points on the year in 38 minutes of action over seven games.

But in three games she tallied 10, 10 and 14 points, and her scoring boosted her playing time, as she logged 23, 24 and 24 minutes of time against three difficult opponents.

Medley, who reached double figures in scoring just three times as a rookie in 2011-12, including a high of 12 points on December 7, 2011 (vs. College of New Rochelle), doubled that total in just a week’s time.

For the week, Medley averaged 11.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting an impressive 15-for-19 from the foul line for a .789 percentage, and .357 from three-point distance (5-14). She totalled 34 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals in 71 minutes of action, shooting 7-for-21 overall (.333).

In the week’s opening game on December 10, a 94-63 loss to an FDU-Florham squad that improved to 8-1 overall, Medley came off the bench to contribute 10 points (3-6 FG, 2-3 3FG) in 23 minutes, while adding two assists, two steals and one block. The 63 points scored by NJCU were the most against FDU this season in a victory.

In a 76-41 New Jersey Athletic Conference loss to #23/25 ranked Montclair State University on December 12, Medley reached double figures for the second straight game, scoring seven of her 10 points in the first half. She shot a perfect 7-for-7 from the line and added a pair of rebounds.

In a 64-49 loss to a solid Manhattanville College club, Medley reached double figures for the third straight game, scoring a career-high 14 points, including two three-pointers. She shot 6-of-8 from the free throw line in 24 reserve minutes. It was the first time the two-sport athlete led the women’s basketball team in scoring in a game.

On the season, Medley is now averaging 4.7 points per contest for NJCU (3-8), shooting .762 from the line (16-21), .382 from the field (13-34) and .278 from three-point distance (5-18). In 109 total minutes in 10 games (0 starts), she has totalled 47 points, eight rebounds, five assists, five steals and one block.
