Senior swingman Walik Albright (Jersey City, NJ/Create Charter) of the men’s basketball team and sophomore point guard Kiana Briggs (Paterson, NJ/Passaic County Tech) of the women’s basketball team are the New Jersey City University Athletes of the Week for November 18, 2013. The honor is for the period of November 11-17, 2013. Albright wins the award for the eighth time in his career while Briggs takes home the honor for the first time.

Briggs, a one-time NJAC Rookie of the Week last season, had two solid efforts in a pair of close losses to open the season at the Salem State University Tip-Off Tournament.
She scored in double figures twice and delivered the ball well, finishing with 13.5 points, 5.5 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 0.5 blocks while playing 70 minutes over two games. She tallied 27 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds in all.
Briggs, a 5-foot-6 Sociology major with a minor in History, matched her previous career high with six assists and netted 12 points on 6-of-12 shooting with two steals in 34 minutes in a 66-63 loss to host Salem State on November 15. In the second half of the loss, Briggs gave NJCU a 12-point lead, 41-29, with 17:46 to play.
In a 63-59 setback to Norwich University in the consolation game on November 16, Briggs established a career-high with 15 points (7-17 FG)—her fifth career effort of double figures in scoring—while collecting six rebounds, five assists, a steal and block in 36 minutes. Early in the second half, back-to-back jumpers by Briggs gave NJCU its first lead of the game, 35-32.
