Senior small forward Walik Albright (Jersey City, NJ/Create Charter) of the men’s basketball team is the New Jersey City University Athletes of the Week for January 6, 2014. The honor is for the period of December 30, 2013 thru January 5, 2014. Albright takes home Athlete of the Week honors for the third time this season and the 10th time in his four-year career.

Albright, a 6-foot-5 senior co-captain majoring in Early Childhood Education, had a solid effort in a 71-50 loss at Kean University on January 4. Albright reached the 900 career point plateau and posted his 48th career double-digit scoring effort, pouring in a team-high 16 points (7-11 FG, 2-3 FT) and eight rebounds in 34 minutes. He shot 7-for-8 from two-point range.

On the season in 11 games (11 starts), Albright is averaging 11.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.3 blocks per game, while shooting .437 from the field (45-103) in 30.4 minutes per contest. He has amassed 131 points, 72 rebounds (24-48), 20 assists, 18 steals and three blocks while making seven three-pointers (7-31). He leads NJCU in scoring and rebounding.
