Junior middle blocker LIZZELLE CINTRON (Newark, NJ/Elizabeth), the reigning NJAC co-Player of the Year, is the first NJCU Women's Athlete of the Week of the 2006-07 year after she started off her season in style at the Johns Hopkins University Invitational, earning All-Tournament team honors for a second consecutive year while posting spectacular numbersâ€”including her fifth career triple double.

NJCU went 2-2 in the tournament, including 2-1 on day two, when Cintron posted 61 kills in three matches. Now with 1483 career kills, Cintron needs 17 to become the first woman to reach the 1500 plateau at NJCU.

For the week, she hit a staggering .486, while averaging 6.72 points, 5.12 kills, 3.38 digs, 1.44 blocks and 0.56 aces per game. She had 19 or more kills in every match.

In a 3-1 loss to Randolph-Macon College, Cintron posted her first triple double this season by slamming 19 kills, 14 digs, and 10 blocks, including five solo rejections. She also posted a .500 hitting percentage (19-2-34).

Cintron again was unstoppable against Sewanee as NJCU won 3-1, and this time had a double-double with 19 kills (20-6-37) and 14 digs. She hit .378 and had three blocks.

Cintron saved her best for last as she pounded 22 kills with only one error (22-1-28) for a remarkable .750 hitting percentage in a 3-1 win over Mount Aloysius. She was impressive all around, adding 12 digs, seven blocks (four solo), and five aces.

In a season-opening loss (3-1) to Salisbury University, Cintron posted a match-high 21 kills (21-6-38) with a .395 attack percentage, while adding 14 digs, three assisted blocks and two aces.
