JERSEY CITY, N.J. (NJCUGothicKnights.com) | Senior first baseman Andrew Niech (Avenel, N.J./Colonia) is the New Jersey City University Athlete of the Week for April 25, 2016. It's the third honor of his career—all this season.

In five games (five starts), Niech posted seven hits, vaulting into a share of first place at the top of the all-time hits list in the 69-year history of the program with 199.

He batted 7-for-20 (.305), adding his record 46th and 47th career doubles, while scoring twice and driving in the 97th and 98th runs of his career. He posted a .450 slugging percentage and .381 on-base percentage with one steal and one hit by pitch.

Niech hit safely in four of five games. He was 3-for-4 with two runs and a double and steal in NJCU's 8-7 come-from-behind win over Penn State Abington on April 19. He had singles in each game of a home-and-home series with Montclair State before going 2-for-4 with a two-RBI double in the eighth inning of game two of a doubleheader at Rutgers-Camden on April 23.
