Tu’ziah Hall, a 5-foot-6 Nursing major who was also selected the New Jersey Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the third time in four weeks, wins the award for the third time this year.

Tu’ziah Hall:
  • Produced the highest scoring performance for an NJCU freshman women’s basketball player in 36 years.
  • Named NJAC Rookie of the Week for third time in four weeks (also winning in weeks one and two on November 21 and 28).
  • Tabbed to the MBWA Division II-III Honorable Mention list for the week by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
  • Despite NJCU losing its three games last week, Hall was dominant in the scoring column and defensively. She averaged 20.3 points, 4.0 assists, 3.7 steals, 3.7 rebounds and 0.3 blocks in 34.7 minutes per game. She shot 41.1 percent from the field (23-56) and 36.4 percent from three-point distance (8-22). She tallied 61 points, 12 assists, 11 steals and eight rebounds in 104 minutes over three games.
  • Most notable was her performance in NJCU’s loss to The College of New Jersey in Jersey City on December 10. Her 30 points was just two shy of the single-game rookie scoring mark and the most by a Gothic Knight freshman since Hall-of-Famer Christine Mosca established the still-standing program rookie scoring standard of 32 points on January 29, 1981.
  • Hall became the fourth NJCU freshman to score 30 points in a game; the other two previous freshmen to score 30 for NJCU played for then-Jersey City State in the 1970s, and each woman, like Mosca, are enshrined in the NJCU Hall of Fame.
  • Hall’s career-high 30 points came on 10-of-20 shooting and she was 4-of-9 from three-point range and 6-of-8 from the line while forcing a game-high five steals in 33 minutes of action. It’s the seventh time this season Hall was the Gothic Knights’ leading scorer.
  • In a loss at Kean on December 7, she had a near double-double with 15 points and a career-high nine assists in a full 40 minutes, adding four rebounds and two steals.
  • Hall notched 16 points on 3-of-8 three-point shooting in a road loss to Baruch on December 5 in a non-conference game. She added four steals, three assists and three rebounds.
  • On the season through 10 games for NJCU (3-7), Hall is averaging 15.7 points, 4.0 assists, 3.9 rebounds, and 2.9 steals per game. In 312 minutes she has tallied 157 points, 40 assists, 39 rebounds, 29 steals and two blocks. She is shooting .689 from the foul line (31-45), .348 from the field (56-161) and .318 from three-point distance (14-44).
  • Overall, she ranks third in the NJAC in scoring. She’s also second in steals, seventh in assists, 10th in minutes played (31.2 per game), 11th in assist/turnover ratio (0.8), and 15th in three-pointers made. The league freshman leader in scoring, assists and steals, Hall is the only rookie to rank in the Top 15 in assists or steals or the top eight in scoring.
  • She ranked 20th nationally in total assists as of the last ranking on December 7.
