  • Vargas continued her torrid start to the 2018 season with four more goals this week, three of which came in yet another hat trick, the fifth of her career and second of the season.
  • For the week she averaged 7.33 shots, 3.00 points, 1.33 goals and 0.33 assists per game, tallying 22 shots, 10 on goal (.455 shots on goal percentage) and nine points, while taking three corners. She played 215 total minutes, including every second of the final two games of the week.
  • Vargas now has eight goals on the season, and her most recent week vaulted her into third all-time on the career NJCU women’s soccer goals scored leaderboard. She passed NJCU Hall of Famer, and her current coach, Katie Feehan, with her three goals scored on in a 7-0 NJCU win over York College (September 10).
  • Vargas also tallied an assist this week, her second of the season, bringing her season total to 18 points, more than three times any other player on this year’s NJCU team.
  • She is the driving force behind the Gothic Knight attack and will regularly weave through defenses to create a Gothic Knight attack out of thin air.
  • Vargas scored in both of the Knights’ wins, tallying her hat trick against York entirely in the first 35 minutes before making way for substitute attackers to get minutes in what became a blowout victory. Against York, all four of her shots in the game were on goal.
  • Against Cedar Crest College (September 12), Vargas had the late insurance goal, scoring the Knights’ final tally in a 3-1 win when Cedar Crest still had a chance to tie the game. She put up eight shots in the win over Cedar Crest, putting five on goal.
  • Vargas had 10 shots in an NJAC-opening loss to Ramapo (September 15), routinely dribbling through defenders, but RCNJ did a good job double and triple-teaming her while sliding to block shots.
