Former four-year women’s soccer standout, three-year co-captain and Academic All-American Katie Feehan joined the New Jersey City University coaching staff in 2008 and is coaching in her seventh season. She will continue to contribute in every aspect of coaching, including scouting, practice sessions and recruiting. She is the longest serving active female coach, head or assistant, at NJCU.

For four years on the soccer pitch for the Gothic Knights, Feehan was the ultimate example of the term student-athlete. A three-time ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America recipient, she became the first athlete in the history of NJCU to be named a First-Team Academic All-American in any sport in 2007 after earning Third-Team Academic All-America distinction in 2005 and 2006.

She was the only New Jersey Athletic Conference women’s player named to the 2007 Academic All-America First, Second or Third Team. She was one of only three midfielders nationwide named to the First-Team and among just two in Division III and the only graduate student on any of the three teams.
A May 2007 graduate of NJCU with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice (Pre-Law), Feehan had a 3.98 undergraduate grade point average. She returned as a graduate student for the 2007-08 year to use her final season of eligibility and pursue a master’s degree.
A two-time First-Team Academic All-NJAC selection in 2005-06 and 2006-07, she also received the Gothic Knight Academic Achievement Award in May 2007, presented annually to the NJCU men’s and women’s student-athlete with the highest overall GPA after reaching sophomore level status. Her 3.98 GPA was the highest of any athlete at the University. Feehan earned First-Team Academic All-NJAC distinction in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
A multiple-year member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, she was Chair of the SAAC in the 2007-08 academic year.
Athletically, Feehan proved to be a technical and versatile player offensively and defensively, who played every position on the field during her career—even 45 minutes in goal in 2005. But she was a center midfielder by trade and owned every major career record at NJCU at the time she completed her eligibility. She was the all-time leader in points (92), goals (33), assists (26), multiple-goal games (9), game-winning goals (6), shots (250), shots on goal (135), games played (73), games started (73) and minutes played (6,372). There are 15 total career categories and Feehan is in the Top five in every category.
In 2007, she led the conference in assists per game (0.65), ranked second with 11 assists, and was selected as a Second-Team All-NJAC recipient—the third consecutive season she has been named All-NJAC. She was an Honorable Mention choice in 2005 and 2006.

Feehan’s 11 assists in 2007 set a single-season record, adding seven goals for 25 points on 33 shots (15 on goal). In 17 games (17 starts) over 1,447 minutes she had two multiple-goal games, one hat trick, one game-winner and two unassisted goals. In a 6-0 win over Penn State-Berks on October 15 she had three goals and two assists for eight points, becoming the first player in program history to have eight points in a game twice in a career.
In the final NJAC statistical rankings, other than assists, she also listed eighth in points per game (1.47) and tied for 10th in total points.
In 2006, Feehan tallied 12 points on four goals and four assists, including one game-winner. She had 62 shots (29 on goal), earning Honorable Mention All-NJAC status.
In 2005, she earned Honorable Mention All-NJAC distinction as she set a single-season record with 34 points, chalking up 13 goals and eight assists on 76 shots (46 on goal). She scored the first goal of a game three times, had one hat trick and one game-winner. Her 13 goals were one shy of the single-season program mark. Feehan was the ECAC Division III Metro and New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on October 24.
Feehan set a school record on September 11, 2005 when she scored 16 seconds into a game against Daeman College at the Medaille College Tournament in Buffalo, NY. It is tied for the 14th fastest goal to start a game in NCAA Division III history.
Feehan also owns NJCU’s record for fastest consecutive goals (team and same player), when she slammed back-to-back netters in only 10 seconds in a 7-0 win over Mount Saint Mary College (NY) on October 29, 2005. That remains the second fastest consecutive goals by one player and sixth fastest by a team in Division III history.
In her rookie campaign for NJCU in 2004, she burst onto the scene with 21 points on nine goals and three assists, scoring three game-winners. She tallied one hat trick and one game-tying goal during the season, finishing with 79 shots (45 on goal). Feehan led NJCU in goals and points. NJCU competed as an independent in 2004, but she still earned First-Team All-Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) and Association of Division III Independents Honorable Mention honors. She earned WIAC Rookie of the Week status on October 4, 2004 and Independents Player of the Week accolades on November 8, 2004.
In addition to her community service efforts with the SAAC at NJCU, she also did letter-writing campaigns for St. Jude’s Hospital and works with youth soccer camps in the Monmouth County area. She was also a two-year manager of NJCU’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.
Feehan transferred to NJCU from Division II West Chester (Pa.) University, where she was recruited but chose not to play after spending the previous 13 years on the field.
A four-year varsity soccer player at Wall Township High School for Coach Heather Garrett where she graduated in June 2003, she earned Asbury Park Player of the Week and Asbury Park Honor Roll in Fall 2002.  Feehan led her team in scoring all four seasons, including eight goals and four assists as a senior. She was also a four-year varsity basketball player for Coach Tom Ridoux, helping the Knights to a Central Jersey Group III championship as a junior in 2001-02. She also played a year of softball for Coach Tony Vodola.
Outside of high school, she won the Elks Shootout championship in 2000. She played club soccer for Battle of Monmouth Strikers, and she helped her team reach the State cup finals each year from 2000-03.
Feehan interned at the Monmouth County prosecutor’s office in the summer of 2006, and would like to attend law school upon completion of her master’s degree at NJCU. She intends to pursue a career with the D.E.A., F.B.I. or federal probation.
Still active as a player, Feehan currently plays in the Garden State Soccer League in the semiprofessional ‘A’ League for U.S. Parma. The daughter of Jan and Brian Feehan, she comes from a soccer family. Her brother C.J. is a senior at Wall High School and her sixth-grade sister Danielle is also an active player. Feehan is a native of Manasquan, NJ and currently resides in Newark, NJ.
