ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY…Freshman forward Laura Dorsey (Georgetown, TX/St. Stephen’s Episcopal) scored the only goal of the game on an unassisted breakaway at 22:13 of the first half as Bard College defeated New Jersey City University, 1-0, in a non-conference women’s soccer game.
NJCU’s two-game winning streak is snapped with the loss (4-11-1). The Raptors (8-5) have won four straight. It was the first meeting of the schools since 2002. Bard leads the all-time series, 6-3-1.
NJCU had its chances to score in the game. Bard owned a 19-17 margin in shots which had been even at nine at halftime.
Freshman forward KATIE FEEHAN (Manasquan, NJ/Wall) accumulated 10 of NJCU’s 17 shots, including eight on goal.
NJCU rookie goalkeeper CASSANDRA ZIENIUK (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) had 16 saves in defeat. Bard freshman keeper Rebecca Williams (Joshua, TX/Joshua) set aside 12 shots.
Six days off come up for the Gothic Knights, who will return to action on Wednesday, October 27 with a 3pm Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Farmingdale State University in Jersey City, NJ.
