FOUR DIFFERENT PLAYERS TALLY GOALS AS ST. JOSEPH’S DEFEATS NJCU

JERSEY CITY, NJSenior sweeper Megan Wilson (Islip, NY/Islip) scored the eventual game-winner on a penalty kick and added an assist as St. Joseph’s College (LI) received goals from four different players and defeated New Jersey City University, 4-0, in a Women’s Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women’s soccer game at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
 
                The Golden Eagles improve to 10-8 overall and finish the year second in WIAC play with a 3-1 ledger. SJC has won four of its last five games. NJCU ends the WIAC season at 1-3 and fall to 4-13-1 overall. SJC leads the all-time series, 6-0.
 
                Wilson notched her third goal of the season on a penalty kick at 10:06 after a foul in the box. She added her second assist of the season at 16:47 with a corner kick, as the Eagles moved ahead 2-0 with a near left post header from junior midfielder Pam Molinas-Coelho (Shirley, NY/William Floyd), her second score of the season.
 
                The Eagles added a third fist half goal at 36:54 when senior forward Francine DeJosia (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford) buried a one-timer off a cross from the right wing by freshman forward Jessica Ragazzi (Patchogue, NY/Patchogue-Medford). It was DeJosia’s sixth tally of the season.
 
                SJC added a final goal at 53:24 of the second half when senior forward Haley Case (Westhampton, NY/Westhampton Beach) notched her third score of the season with a blast from the top of the box over NJCU’s keeper. The assist was credited to junior defender Kelly Fagan (Middle Island, NY/Longwood).
 
                NJCU rookie goalkeeper CASSANDRA ZIENIUK (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) smothered 11 shots in defeat as SJC outshot the Gothic Knights, 36-8, including 20-3 in the second half.
 
                SJC, which registered its sixth shutout of the season, had keepers split time. Junior Lisa Paiva (Deer Park, NY/Deer Park) started for the Eagles, and made five first-half saves. Junior Katie Schnitzenbaumer (C. Moriches, NY/St. John the Baptist) played the second half in net, stopping three shots.
 
                NJCU will wrap up the 2004 campaign with a home game on Saturday, November 6 at 2pm when the Knights host Lincoln University (PA).
