KATIE FEEHAN SCORES FOUR TIMES AS NJCU DEFEATS ST. ELIZABETH, 6-2

- Katie Feehan became NJCU's second player to notch four goals in a game this season.

MORRISTOWN, NJ… Sophomore midfielder KATIE FEEHAN (Manasquan, NJ/Wall) became the second New Jersey City University player to score four goals in a game this season, and sophomore forward KELLY DALY (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) added a goal and two assists as the Gothic Knights opened up a 4-0 lead and defeated the College of St. Elizabeth, 6-2, in a non-conference road contest.
              
NJCU improves to 3-11 overall with its second win in three games, while CSE (1-8) loses its fourth straight. NJCU leads the all-time series, 6-4, and have won four of the last five meetings. NJCU outshot CSE, 29-9, including 14-3 in the second half.
              
Senior midfielder CARINE CARVALHEIRO (Newark, NJ/Newark-East Side) added what proved to be the game-winning goal, and chipped in one assist.
              
Sophomore midfielder TARA LAKE (Bayonne, NJ/Holy Family Academy) tallied two assists and junior midfielder LUCY LONGOBUCCO (Harrison, NJ/Harrison) contributed one helper.
              
Freshman midfielder Kate Espinosa (Wharton, NJ/Morris Hills) and junior defender Esther Daughtrey (Pine Brook, NJ/Trinity Christian) scored the two Eagle goals, and sophomore midfielder Chantelle Blair (Cornish, NH/Lebanon) had one assist.
              
Feehan, who now has eight goals on the season and 20 points, scored the first two and final two goals of the game.
 
<dfn><a href=TARA LAKE" src="/images/wsoccer/2005/10/17/09-16-05%20Tara%20Lake%207.jpg" width=150 align=left border=0>Just 2:35 into the contest, she drilled a Lake cross from the left wing into the right corner. At 9:02, she gave NJCU a 2-0 edge, as she took a feed from Longobucco a buried a shot from 25 yards out.
 
Carvalheiro scored what proved to be the game-winning goal just 2:01 later. At 11:03, she received a feed from Lake, and lifted a shot over the CSE keeper for a 3-0 advantage.
 
NJCU opened up a 4-0 lead at 19:13, as Daly drilled her team-leading ninth goal of the season into the left corner from the left wing, off a pass from Carvalheiro. Daly is the other NJCU player with a four-goal outburst this season.
 
Espinosa put the Eagles on the board at 35:45, as she lobbed a high shot over the NJCU keeper. The score remained 4-1 at the half.
 
CSE drew a bit closer at 48:13, as Daughtrey finished a corner kick from Blair, to trim the lead to 4-2.
 
It remained 4-2 for the next 36:13, before Feehan notched a much-needed insurance goal at 84:26.
After a shot by Daly rebounded out, Feehan wrapped the following shot in nylon, for her second career hat trick.
 
At 88:09, she capped the scoring with her eighth goal of the year, and Daly’s second assist, when she netted a shot from eight yards out. The second assist was Daly’s team-leading 21st point of the year.
 
Sophomore keeper KASANDRA ZIENIUK (Bayonne, NJ/Bayonne) registered her first victory in two tries this season, making four saves.
 
Junior keeper Vanessa Rakowski (Piscataway, NJ/Roselle Catholic) collected 13 saves in defeat for CSE.
              
NJCU will visit Farmingdale State University on Wednesday, October 19 at 3 p.m. in a non-conference game in Farmingdale, NY.
