JERSEY CITY, NJ…Richard Stockton College scored 12 straight points to surge to a 12-2 lead early in the first half, and never looked back, as the Ospreys remained perfect on the season by defeating New Jersey City University, 69-42, in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center.
Stockton remains unbeaten in 2005-06, improving to 6-0 and 3-0 in the NJAC. The Gothic Knights fall to .500 on the year at 3-3, and 1-3 in the league. The Ospreys led by as many as 23 in the first period, before taking a 21-point, 39-18 margin into the half. RSC led by as many as 33 on three instances of the second half, before prevailing by 27.
Senior forward Lisa Zak (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South) led all scorers with 14 points (4-8 FG), including 6-of-6 at the line, along with five rebounds and three assists. Junior guard Jenna Shenk (Mount Laurel, NJ/Bishop Eustace) and senior forward Krystle Umscheid (Cape May, NJ/Lower Cape May) each collected 11 points. Umscheid added seven rebounds and four steals.
Senior guard Danielle Walder (Jobstown, NJ/Northern Burlington) totaled nine points and five assists for the Ospreys. Junior forward Alicia Morris (Easthampton, NJ/Rancocas Valley) finished with seven rebounds, six points and two blocks. Junior forward Jacki Crocker (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) contributed eight points and six rebounds in 16 minutes. In all 11 Ospreys saw action, with none playing more than 24 minutes.
NJCU did not have a player reach double figures. Sophomore center

(Elizabeth, NJ/Elizabeth), the 2004-05 national leader in steals, swiped a season-high six, and added six points and four assists, but committed seven turnovers.
Stockton shot 42.4 percent from the field for the contest (25-59), and was a solid 88.2 percent at the line (15-17). NJCU converted 16-of-47 from the floor (34.0%).
There were a combined 53 turnovers in the game. NJCU committed 31, and Stockton translated those miscues into a 29-13 margin in points off turnovers.
NJCU returns to action on Saturday, December 10 at 6 p.m. when it hosts Ramapo College in a New Jersey Athletic Conference game at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center. The Ospreys host Kean at 2 p.m. the same day.
