MONTCLAIR RECEIVES TWO HATTRICKS, TOPS NJCU IN WOMEN’S ACTION

JERSEY CITY, NJ…Montclair State University received four goals from senior midfielder Kelly Dutko (Hamilton, NJ/Steinert) and three tallies from freshman forward Natalia Sisti (Lincoln Park, NJ/DePaul Catholic) en route to a 10-1 win over New Jersey City University in a New Jersey Athletic Conference women’s soccer game played at the Robert L. McNulty Memorial Soccer Field.
 
With the win Montclair State vaults past The College of New Jersey into second place in the NJAC with 14 points, via a 9-4-2 record and 4-1-2 in the NJAC. TCNJ did not play a conference game on Saturday. Montclair also wins its first game since September 30, having gone 0-2-2 since.
 
NJCU falls to 3-11-0 overall and 0-7-0 in the league, with three straight losses. Montclair leads the all-time series, 12-1, with 11 straight decisions. The game was 70 minutes in length.
 
The Red Hawks also received the first two goals of the season from freshman forward Lisa Tasci (Paramus, NJ/Paramus), and a single netter from freshman midfielder Christina Della Fave (Bordentown, NJ/Bordentown).
 
Sophomore forward Angela Martone (Toms River, NJ/Toms River South) and senior defender Erin Trezza (Belford, NJ/Middletown North) each contributed two assists. MSU received single assists from Dutko, Della Fave, senior midfielder Dara Nalven (Old Bridge, NJ/Old Bridge), freshman defender Amanda Laird (Hamilton Square, NJ/Steinert), and senior starting goalkeeper Kristin Kuhmann (Beachwood, NJ/Toms River South).
 
NJCU senior midfielder REEM HANA (Iselin, NJ/JFK Memorial) notched her fourth goal of the season at 5:05, as she rifled a shot from 40 yards away off a steal that sailed over the head of Kuhmann and under the crossbar.
 
Dutko finished with four goals and nine points. She became the fifth player in Montclair history to score four or more goals in a game and the first since the 2000 season. Dutko, who now has six goals on the season, scored the first (1:11), second (7:30), fifth (16:24) and eighth (39:41) goals for the Red Hawks. After she scored the first goal of the game, she scored what proved to be the game-winner when she gave the Hawks the lead for good at 2-1—as MSU scored nine unanswered goals.
 
Sisti, Montclair’s leading scorer this season, now has 11 goals overall, after compiling the third, fourth, and sixth tallies for the Hawks. Della Fave’s goal was her fourth of the year.
 
Montclair, which led 9-1 at the half, outshot NJCU 24-7 overall, including 21-4 in the opening period. MSU was whistled for 10 offsides.
 
Kuhmann made one save while playing 45 minutes in net for MSU. Freshman keeper Leah Tepperman (North Andover, MA/North Andover) stopped two shots while playing the final 25 minutes, as the two teams were even on shots, 3-3, in the second half. It was her first career appearance in net.
 
In defeat for NJCU, junior goalkeeper ALEXIS CHISARI (Secaucus, NJ/Secaucus) made four saves while allowing the first four goals of the game, before leaving the game with an injury at 14:02. Freshman JESSICA IRIZARRY (Perth Amboy, NJ/Perth Amboy) made her career debut in goal for NJCU, making three saves while playing the final 55:58.
 
NJCU will return to action on Monday, October 16 at 3:30 p.m. with a non-conference game at King’s College (PA) in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Montclair will host Catholic University (DC) at 2 p.m. on October 15.
